42163 Heavy-Duty Bulldozer

  • Pieces: 195
  • Price: £8.99
  • Release Date: January 1st

The first kid, and one of the most affordable entry-points to LEGO Technic, is the Heavy-Duty Bulldozer that’s set for a release on January 1st. It looks to be quite a small set, though it’s going to act as a great starting point for any kids just getting started with more advanced LEGO mechanics.

It also looks like the perfect Technic set to incorporate into your LEGO City builds.

42164 Off-Road Race Buggy

  • Pieces: 219
  • Price: £12.99
  • Release Date: January 1st

Another budget-friendly starting point is the Off-Road Race Buggy. Though not as functional as the Heavy-Duty Bulldozer, this looks more like the kind of LEGO set geared towards kids that love to go vroom. AFOL will also enjoy the simplicity of this kit.

42166 NEOM McLaren Extreme E Race Car

  • Pieces: 252
  • Price: £20.99
  • Release Date: January 1st

This is going to be a great gift for anyone with an interest in racecars. The McLaren branding is instantly recognisable, definitely attracting racing fans, though the design veers towards a slightly bulkier form.

The wheels work on a pull-back action system, so you’re going to be able to see it speed across surfaces with ease.

42167 Mack LR Electric Garbage Truck

  • Pieces: 503
  • Price: £29.99
  • Release Date: January 1st

With 503 pieces and costing £29.99, the Mack LR Electric Garbage Truck looks as though it’s going to be an incredibly affordable way to enjoy LEGO Technic come January 1st.

There’s a functioning side-loader, letting Technic fans live out their wildest fantasies.

42168 John Deere 9700 Forage Harvester

  • Pieces: 559
  • Price: £37.99
  • Release Date: January 1st

The first heavy hitter with this year’s LEGO Technic releases is the John Deere 9700 Forage Harvester. It’s going to feature 559 pieces at a price of £37.99, which although it’s only a few pieces more than the aforementioned Garbage Truck, features a much more advanced and creative design.

The Harvester’s front piece is commandeered by turning gears, all of which are going to spur curiosity and engineering understanding in younger audiences. That said, it’s still a pretty nifty little set that’s going to excite older fans too.

42169 NEOM McLaren Formula E Race Car

The box of the LEGO Technic McLaren Formula E Race Car.
  • Pieces: 452
  • Price: £46.99
  • Release Date: March 1st

The Formula E Race Car from McLaren sports a much slender design suited to F1, compared to the bulkier Extreme-variant. This is already shaping up to be one of the best LEGO F1 race car sets in recent years.

42170 Kawasaki Ninja H2R Motorcycle

The box for the Kawasaki NINJA H2R Motorcycle from LEGO Technic.
  • Pieces: 643
  • Price: £69.99
  • Release Date: March 1st

One of the more expensive features on the list, the Kawasaki Ninja H2R Motorcycle is a much more complex and intricate design. Personally, I’m not much of a car fan. Writing about LEGO Technic really excites me when there’s a motorcycle involved, so this looks to be quite an exciting set for 2024.

42171 Mercedes Formula 1 Car

There’s nothing confirmed about this set just yet, aside from a few tid-bits on information from BrickFanatics.

It’s not known whether this is even going to be an official LEGO Technic set, with LEGO Icons and Speed Champions also just as likely to scoop this one up.

42178 Surface Space Loader LT78

The LEGO Technic Surface Space loader against a cosmic background.
  • Pieces: 435
  • Price: £29.99
  • Release Date: March 1st

The 42178 Surface Space Loader LT78 is this year’s first Technic space-themed set, though definitely not the last. It’s not that complex, though the general aesthetic is somewhere between industrial sci-fi and monster-truck frenzy. I like it.

It’s somewhat reminiscent of Mateo’s Off-Road Car that features in our picks for the best LEGO DREAMZzz sets.

42179 Planet Earth & Moon in Orbit

The LEGO Technic Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit against a cosmic background.
  • Pieces: 526
  • Price: £69.99
  • Release Date: March 1st

Another of the Space-themed LEGO sets is the Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit kit. With over 526 pieces to choose from, alongside a plethora of moving parts, this is certainly one of the most exciting Technic sets releasing in 2024.

42180 Mars Crew Exploration Rover

The Mars Crew Exploration Rover from LEGO Technic against a cosmic background.
  • Pieces: 1,588
  • Price: £129.99
  • Release Date: March 1st

The most expensive LEGO Technic set releasing in 2024 (as far as we know) happens to be the Mars Crew Exploration Rover. The direction that LEGO Technic is moving in is incredibly exciting, with space exploration and multi-terrain vehicles taking center stage over race cars and domestic vehicles. Perhaps the popularity of LEGO Star Wars is beginning to kick in.

There’s plenty to be excited about with the Mars Crew Exploration Rover, including the plethora of living quarters contained within, or the moving crane, elevator, companion rover and suspension all packaged neatly.

42181 VTOL Heavy Cargo Spaceship LT81

The VTOL Heavy Cargo Spaceship against a cosmic background.
  • Pieces: 1,365
  • Price: £89.99
  • Release Date: March 1st

March is an incredibly exciting time for LEGO fans, with many of the best sets of the year releasing. The VTOL Heavy Cargo Spaceship LT81 is definitely one of them, with a beautiful design that wouldn’t seem amiss in Starfield.

There’s a few accompanying micro-sets too, and it looks as though this LEGO Technic sets is going to be entirely worth the money.

42165 Unknown

There’s not really much known about this set, though the model number indicates it’s going to be contained in LEGO Technic.

That’s as much as we know on the upcoming LEGO Technic sets that are destined for take-off in 2024. There’s so many other LEGO sets releasing in 2024, with some fascinating LEGO Star Wars sets also on the cards. We’re going to keep this page updated with the latest information, so stay tuned.
